(Labor)
The third labor that Heracles had to complete was to capture the Cerynitian Hind, which was sacred to Artemis. (Oracle n.d,)  As a result the difficulty of this particular labor was that Heracles was unable to kill or even harm the Hind, as it would be seen as a sign of disrespect  to the goddess. (Grimal 1996) As a result Heracles decided to hunt the hind for approximately one year.(Grimal 1996) Finally the hind became tired and the hero slightly wounded the hind by firing an arrow between the tendons and bones of the two forelegs of the animal.( Oracle n.d,)  However on his journey back to the kingdom, he was stopped by Artemis and Apollo who wished to take back the Hind as they accused Heracles of wanting to kill the poor animal(Grimal 1996) Heracles was able to convince the two gods that it was the fault of his cousin Eurystheus  , and as a result he was able to continue on with his journey. (Grimal 1996)
